New Experience In Concrete

Today I had a new experience in concrete.  I had volunteered to help pour a patio at Clarence and Mary's. (S-i-L and B-i-L) .  Their son, Marvin was to be the ramrod of the pour.  When we (Glinda and I) arrived at there house around 7:30 this morning we had the pleasure of meetings Marvin's friend Barry, who had came down from the city with Marvin to assist.  I quickly found out that Barry wanted to use the come-a-long and I would use the shovel.  That was all right as I didn't care I just wanted to be able to help.  Then I found out we were planning something I had never heard of before - Stamping a Design in the Concrete.  It was about then that Marvin informed me that I was to be the one to do the stamping.  I went on to learn that you stamp concrete with big pieces of what appear to be rubber that have a design on one side, but you fit them together sorta like a jig-saw puzzle as you move them along the wet concrete and walk on them tamping with a heavy tamper device.  The design chosen was "Flagstone".  The picture cube below shows the result of that work.  I might add that instead of one patio there were two and a sidewalk.  There is also on the cube a photo of Clarence loading the stamps back into his truck and Mary washing the tailgate off.
