Picking Cherries - 2012
We had so many cherries this year that there were two cherry picking days. The slide show above is my wife, granddaughter and sister-in-law picking on a Saturday evening following evening chores. The photos below were taken 8 days later on a Sunday morning. They are my friend Ed, my friend Ruth and her son Austin. After they finished picking the cherries Ruth had noticed all the mulberry trees around and they picked a bunch of mulberries as well. Some of the photos are of that and then they returned the following Tuesday to pick more mulberries around the edge of a hay field.
When they returned on Tuesday Ruth discovered this very unusual mulberry tree in the photo below.
You will notice that the berries are white and ripe. They seemed to taste sweeter than the regular purple mulberries. Now the question is how do we get a start of this tree to raise some more like it?
All in all a successful cherry and mulberry year even though it was a full month earlier than usual.
