    If you read the newspapers and watch the news then you have seen 'experts' talking about our children getting fatter and if you observant around you it seems the whole population is gaining weight.  One of the problems (according to my humble opinion) is that we are eating wrong and the nutritionists are the root cause.  They tell us to eat healthier we need to lay off of animal fat and protein and sugars BUT then they turn right around and tell us to eat more pasta and such.  I am going to tell you that we (American Farmers) do not feed our cattle animal fat, protein or various sugars to make them grow and gain weight but that we feed them grains.  Pasta, bread, pizza crust and most of the processed foods fed our children in school are made of grains, hence our children getting bigger and fatter.  Pasta, bread, and pizza crust are made from the germ of the grain (that is where the "energy" is) and that is why the children are growing even though we believe we are feeding them healthy.  Our bodies do not take the fat we eat (and not utilize) and store it as fat BUT the carbohydrates (energy) that we do not utilize through work or exercise is stored as fat until our body needs it.  Check with any "animal nutritionist' if you do not believe me.  Human nutritionists all learn from the same book and say the same things, if we eat more grains we will be healthier but they do not realize that is precisely why as a whole we are a growing (fatter and bigger) nation.
    The best way to watch your weight and raise your children healthy is with a 'balanced' menu.
Just my two cents, take it for what you think it is worth but I do know what we feed animals to make them grow and the same logic should apply to us humans.  Off the soap box now. Thanks for reading.
