Pumpkin Head
Harsh prickly strands of straw
itchy consternation
poking through my shirt sleeves raw.
What a situation!
Ragged flannel patched-up shirt
I’m no fashion icon.
Pitiful hat stained with dirt.
Pumpkin head it hangs on.
I’m a scarecrow, woe is me.
Constructed and not born.
Crows, they laugh heartily
while they nibble my corn.
