The Dining Room

Writing Workshop Challenge   He'll have her...

In response to the Musecrafters Writing Workshop Challenge. An interpretation of the painting below:

The Dining Room

To have our tea,  to have our tea
and wonder for a day.
He to dream of her so fine
while I stay out of  the way.

He'll have her, he'll have me.
She'll never know my shame.
They'll have a love affair sublime
Perhaps I am to blame.

I'll have my tea, I'll have my tea.
Never to be seem observant.
I'll not see when their eyes meet.
That dirty filthy servant.

The woman scorned...

Interesting, Jo... I've read four pieces on this now and I've seen four entirely different 'takes' on it. Two lethal components, anger mixed with resignation, fuel a fire that, in all likelihood, is headed for disaster. I've always found it baffling why spouses often tend to focus their hurt and blame on the paramour rather than the partner. Well done, Jo!
