| They should do it every inning... it might take the crowd's mind off the doleful drubbing the perenially-last-place Pirates take on a daily basis. Funny stuff... |

I'm embarrassed!
JO I'm red-faced to say I can't argue with your assessment of the Pirates. Oh well, maybe flying "wienies" will get people to the games...lol |

Your embarrassment is unwarranted
In my opinion, you should feel no embarrassment. NO sports franchise is capable of carrying the ethos of a city/region, although all of them try. The Pirates major sin, in my opinion, is to be a 'small market' team... and it afflicts nearly every midwestern city lucky enough to have professional baseball. That being said, the immediate cause of the disaster occurred when the front office chose to give Jim Leyland his walking papers and totally dismantle their infrastructure including scouts and minor league talent. I'm currently watching the same thing happen in Kansas City, although it appears that Dayton Moore may be able to right the ship. Stay tuned... and don't be embarrassed by your Pirates, everything in life is cyclical... hope springs eternal.
The hot-dog-shooter is another issue entirely. Ha! |
