The State Insect of Pennsylvania

Did you know the firefly, or as we affectionately called them when I was a kid, lightning bugs, are the state insect of Pennsylvania? Who knew? Now I feel sorry for all those bugs I caught in a mayonnaise jar and left in the garage to die overnight. But wait! I'm so old that was before 1974.  Am I forgiven?

lightning bugs....

jo... this is so special... i grew up in ohio,, and we chased and caught so many.. it was the best part of dusk any summer evening... i live in california now,, and we have no such lovely creatures here.....i miss them.....
