Jacob got home around 4:30 this morning. He had to park at his parents house on the other side of the farm and walk home. I got up when he came in. We chatted for a few minutes and then I went to look out the front door. It was almost 5:00am and I told Jacob that people would be starting to travel our road and they probably wouldn't be able to see the water. I had no more than said those words when I saw headlights. Jacob came over and all we could do is watch as this little white car came zooming down the road and hit the water like a brick wall. We put on our coat and boots and ran out to help him. We were able to push him back out of the water but his car was too flooded to start again. He hit so hard that it damaged the front of his car and bent his license plate all the way up. The water was so cold and within a few feet it had already came over our boots. It was almost to my waist when I stepped wrong and ended up deep in the ditch soaking even my shirt. We came back to the house and he finally got his car towed out. Before I went to sleep 4 more cars came through but luckily they were driving a little smarter and was able to stop.
This is the gate that was our old driveway when we first moved in. The gate goes out onto the paved road. 
Here is the road. The open spot in the middle is our driveway, or at least it would be if we had a boat!
