This morning as I was coming home from taking my son to school I heard the song Letter To Me by Brad Paisley. I’ve heard the song before but I really stopped to listen. In this song he tells what he would say if he could write a letter and send it back in time to when he was a teenager. It got me to thinking.. What would I say to Me? Here’s what I came up with..

Dear Me,

Take a good look in the mirror girl because your body isn’t always going to look like that! I know you’ll think the world is ending when that boyfriend breaks up with you but trust me just let it be. Stop thinking about selling that car of yours. You’ll realize that it’s way cooler to save on gas that to have a prettier one. I wish you would study more because one day your going to have this smart little boy and he’ll learn faster than you can remember.  Please go to college as soon as your done with high school. I know you think it will last forever but trust me the time goes by anyway. Don’t bother with Real Estate. You are going to hate it. Try to listen more and talk less. Go tell your cousin Joe that not only do you love him but his boys love him. Don’t leave until he understands. Make sure you slow down at the corner of Frisco. There is loose gravel in the drive next to it. Trust me when I tell you that going to bingo all those nights with your mom and aunts will pay off. Just wait and see. And one day when you get married and have a baby be thankful for him and stop with one child. Don’t ever think about having another one. I can’t tell you how many tears this will save you. Don't forget to hug your grandparents and your Aunt Fay.

I know high school is hard but try to enjoy it. Things will turn out alright. The road ahead is a long one but you’ll make it.
