Norwood School students worked all year collecting donations for the Ozarks Honor Flight to send WWII veterans to Washington D.C. to visit the WWII Memorial. Today, May 20th of 2011, Steve Grant from KY3 News in Springfield Mo came to accept the donations.
The text below the photos is quoted from Ryan Forrest the announcer of the program.

Good morning, Norwood School, I’m Ryan Forrest, Norwood Student Body Vice-President. We are excited today to have Steve Grant, KY3 News Anchor and Ozark Flight Representative. If you remember, back in the fall at the Veteran’s Day Assembly, Norwood Schools and clubs set a goal of raising money to send veterans on the Ozark Honor Flight. Today, we have representatives from high school clubs, who will be presenting checks to Mr. Grant.

First, Amanda Parker, FCCLA sponsor presenting a check

Next, we have sponsor Chris Sinning of the Future Farmers of America along with Shiann Russell to present a check.

Next we have Student Council sponsor, Jason Duey and me to present a check to Mr Grant. Throughout the year, we have sponsored several “Jeans Days” with Norwood Staff and Faculty. We are proud to present a check on behalf of Norwood Student Council.

Christy Chadwell. Future Business Leaders of America sponsor, along with Chase McIntosh and Jordon Cottengim will be presenting a check.

Our largest contributor to the Ozark Honor Flight was Junior National Honor Society and National Honor Society. Sponsors DyAnna Shaver and Samantha Sullivan will be presenting a check along with Madison Crain, Hayden Russell and Megan Campbell.
On behalf of Norwood School, we are proud to say that our grand total for the Ozarks Honor Flight is $4050.00. We hope that all the veterans and sponsors have a great time in Washington D.C. next Wednesday, May 25th. Norwood Pirates are proud to be part of this effort.
